What has been the best part of being a member of YFAB so far?

Three years ago I joined an organization called YFAB otherwise known as the Youth Faculty Advisory Board. I didn’t know at the time at all what I was joining and what it would look like because we were the first cohort to ever exist under this committee. However, when I did join I was glad I did. I think over the course of the three years being a part of YFAB, the best part has to be the connections you make in this. I don’t mean friendships, but rather relationships with people who came into this program with similar intentions or the fact that they wish to see a better community. Seeing the people you came into this committee with, and to see the growth that you and your fellow peers had and committed to throughout the year is a great thing to see. I think another great thing I got to see being a part of YFAB is the continued opportunities that are offered. Everyone can be a leader in their own ways and being a part of YFAB offers just that. We are able to speak our minds, lead our peers, offer advice, offer opinions all without judgement and rather receive or give constructive criticism so that we not only as people can grow, but as leaders as well. I think being a part of something where you can say your piece without judgement, and to be able to grow from it says a lot about how you can grow as a person in YFAB. All in all, I think the best part of joining YFAB has to be the relationships that you can build to grow as a person.
